  • Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance
  • Healthy eating
  • Appropriate use of medication
  • Working more effectively with health care providers

Diabetes & Me

You will learn the basics of how  diabetes works, such as:

  • The pancreas & insulin
  • Complications of high blood sugar
  • Hyperglycemia & hypoglycemia

You will also learn easier ways to manage your meals through balancing carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and portion sizes. We will talk about how food, alcohol, exercise, stress and even sick days effect you and your diabetes - and much more.

Wellness Yoga

Two types of Wellness Yoga are available to meet all ability and comfort levels:

Tuesday: Yoga for Strength

For those who choose a more active practice with physical challenges. This class will offer more movement, balance poses, stretches, and strengthening exercises while still incorporating the meditation and breathing exercises true to a traditional yoga practice.

Thursdays: Joyful Breathing Yoga

For those who choose a less active practice and know that through gentler, quieter, and calmer activity our body, mind, and spirit can heal and refresh. This class will offer more chair yoga, yin, restorative, joint freeing, meditation, breathing and working with the mind.

Body Balance

This stretch and balance class is done while sitting in a chair. It is perfect for anyone who is new to exercise or physical activity. Positions and movements are chosen to:
  • Protect joints
  • Slowly improve balance
  • Increase range of motion

Weekly Story Time

Join Shasta Community Health in celebrating the joys of reading through a FREE Story Times held at our Redding, Anderson and Shasta Lake City locations. Readers will include SCHC’s own book loving team members from all different departments. Book lovers of all ages are welcome!
