SCHC is excited to offer a new Mindful Eating program starting on March 9th. This 8 week series will help participants explore why they eat and how to make healthier choices. We will talk about:

  • Knowing your physical & emotional cues
  • Choosing food for health & happiness
  • Portions & snacking
  • Meal planning
  • Living an active life
  • & more more!

ALL NEW: Community Connects

Every month SCHC is partnering with the Redding Library to host local organizations and presenters to share information. Presentations will help to inform and educate participants about a certain topic or resource available in the community. Click on the image for more information.

New to SCHC: Body Balance

Starting December 11th SCHC will now be offering a Body Balance class on Mondays from 9:30-10:30am. This stretch and balance class is done while sitting in a chair. It is perfect for anyone who is new to exercise or physical activity.

Positions and movements are chosen to:

  • Protect joints
  • Slowly improve balance
  • Increase range of motion.

Diabetes & Me now available TWICE a month!

You will learn the basics of how diabetes works, such as:

  • The pancreas & insulin
  • Complications of high blood sugar
  • Hyperglycemia & hypoglycemia

You will also learn easier ways to manage your meals through balancing carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and portion sizes. We will talk about how food, exercise, stress and even sick days effect you and your diabetes - and much more.

Wellness Yoga

Wellness Yoga now has a new format! This program will now feature two types of yoga to meet all ability and comfort levels:

Tuesday: Yoga for Strength

For those who choose a more active practice with physical challenges. This class will offer more movement, balance poses, stretches, and strengthening exercises while still incorporating the meditation and breathing exercises true to a traditional yoga practice.

Thursdays: Joyful Breathing Yoga

For those who choose a less active practice and know that through gentler, quieter, and calmer activity our body, mind, and spirit can heal and refresh. This class will offer more chair yoga, yin, restorative, joint freeing, meditation, breathing and working with the mind.
